Oμπάμα: Δεν θα είμαστε ποτέ σε πόλεμο με το Ισλάμ

Οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες δεν είναι και δεν θα είναι «ποτέ σε πόλεμο κατά του Ισλάμ», διαβεβαίωσε σήμερα ο πρόεδρος Μπαράκ Ομπάμα, καλώντας τους συμπατριώτες του σε «ανοχή», σε μια τελετή, για την ένατη επέτειο από τις τρομοκρατικές επιθέσεις της 11 Σεπτεμβρίου, κοντά στην Ουάσινγκτον.

Μετά την πολεμική σχετικά με το σχέδιο ενός εξτρεμιστή πάστορα να κάψει αντίτυπα του Κορανίου, ο Ομπάμα επανέλαβε ότι οι υποκινητές της 11ης Σεπτεμβρίου «μπορεί να προσπαθήσουν να μας χωρίσουν, αλλά δεν θα υποχωρήσουμε στο μίσος και τις προκαταλήψεις τους».
«Οι Γραφές μας διδάσκουν να εγκαταλείψουμε την πικρία, την αγανάκτηση και το θυμό, τους καβγάδες και τις προσβολές, καθώς και κάθε άλλη μορφή κακίας», δήλωσε ο πρόεδρος κατά τη διάρκεια σύντομης τελετής κοντά στο Πεντάγωνο, στο οποίο οι αεροπειρατές έριξαν ένα από τα τέσσερα αεροπλάνα που είχαν καταλάβει πριν από εννέα χρόνια.
«Μπορούν να προσπαθήσουν να προκαλέσουν συγκρούσεις για την πίστη μας, αλλά ως Αμερικανοί, δεν είμαστε και δεν θα είμαστε ποτέ σε πόλεμο κατά του Ισλάμ. Δεν είναι η θρησκεία που μας επιτέθηκε εκείνη την ημέρα του Σεπτεμβρίου. Ήταν αλ-Κάιντα. Μια θλιβερή ομάδα ανδρών που διαστρεβλώνουν την θρησκεία», είπε ακόμα ο Ομπάμα.
«Και όπως ακριβώς καταδικάζουμε τη μισαλλοδοξία και τον εξτρεμισμό στο εξωτερικό, σεβόμαστε τις βασικές αρχές της χώρας μας για την διαφορετικότητα και την ανεκτικότητα», τόνισε ο Αμερικανός Πρόεδρος.
