Θλιβερός ο απολογισμός και από τον σεισμό στο Θιβέτ.

Εκατοντάδες άνθρωποι έχασαν τη ζωή τους και χιλιάδες τραυματίστηκαν. Πολλά σπίτια κατέρρευσαν, δρόμοι αποκλείστηκαν από τις κατολισθήσεις και οι τηλεπικοινωνίες είναι ιδιαίτερα δύσκολες στην περιοχή, μετά τον σεισμό των 7,1 ρίχτερ. Πολλοί κάτοικοι στην απομακρυσμένη περιοχή Γιουσού έχουν μείνει άστεγοι ενώ η θερμοκρασία πλησιάζει το μηδέν στην Γιουσού και είναι ακόμα χαμηλότερη σε ορεινά χωριά.
Το υψίπεδο του Θιβέτ πλήττεται συχνά από σεισμούς, αλλά οι απώλειες είναι συνήθως ελάχιστες λόγω του ότι η περιοχή είναι εξαιρετικά αραιοκατοικημένη. Εξαίρεση είχε αποτελέσει ο σεισμός 8 βαθμών που έπληξε το Σετσουάν τον Μάιο του 2008-στοιχίζοντας τουλάχιστον 80.000 ανθρώπινες ζωές.
