Οι ρωσικές αρχές κήρυξαν κατάσταση έκτακτης ανάγκης γύρω από το κέντρο επεξεργασίας και αποθήκευσης πυρηνικών αποβλήτων του Μαγιάκ εξαιτίας της επέκτασης των πυρκαγιών στη ζώνη αυτή, ανακοίνωσε σήμερα η τοπική αυτοδιοίκηση.

«Ο επικεφαλής της διοίκησης κήρυξε στις 9 Αυγούστου κατάσταση έκτακτης ανάγκης στα δάση και τα πάρκα της πόλης Οζέρσκ (όπου βρίσκεται το πυρηνικό συγκρότημα) εξαιτίας της επέκτασης των πυρκαγιών», σύμφωνα με την ανακοίνωση που δόθηκε σήμερα στη δημοσιότητα.

Ο επικεφαλής της διοίκησης Βίκτορ Τροφίμτσουκ «θα προεδρεύσει στις 10 Αυγούστου μιας έκτακτης συνόδου για τον συντονισμό των προσπαθειών των υπηρεσιών», προστίθεται στην ανακοίνωση. Το κέντρο επεξεργασίας πυρηνικών αποβλήτων βρίσκεται στην περιοχή του Τσελιαμπίνσκ, στα Ουράλια, 2.000 χλμ. ανατολικά της Μόσχας.

Στο μεταξύ, οι ρωσικές αρχές εκφράζουν φόβους ότι μπορεί να εκδηλωθούν επιδημίες, και ιδιαίτερα επιδημία χολέρας, λόγω του πρωτοφανούς καύσωνα που πλήττει τη χώρα, δήλωσε σήμερα ο επικεφαλής των υγειονομικών υπηρεσιών Γκενάντι Ονιστσένκο.
